Tower Breast Diagnostic Center!
For this
project we decided to go to Tower Breast Diagnostic Center, located near the
University Mall. We chose this location because they perform mammograms and
other screening services, such as AAA screening and ultrasounds. Screenings
such as these are incredibly important to public health because public health
is all about preventative care. If more people get mammograms and are aware of
their health, they can catch abnormalities sooner and thus have better health
outcomes. This particular kind of prevention is secondary, which focuses on
diagnosing health problems and treating them before they get worse.
Overall,
this comes to show how important public health is to our society and the entire
world. Without people telling us what and what not to do, there can never be
progression in people's health. Women's breast cancer is something that has
taken a huge effect on many people and it is important that women are being
tested and checked. It was always better when things are taken care of ahead of
time before it is too late. This shows the importance on how health affect's
our lives. Public Health is a very important issue in our society.
As the days continue to arise, more and more people see how it affects our
environment and need more help from people. A woman suffering from breast
cancer again is a huge problem in the United States and also very important to
public health and this is why we chose to go to the Tower Breast Diagnostic
Center.

ReplyDeleteI believe that the location you chose is very important to the well-being of our society because the Tower Brest Diagnostics Center is part of the public health preventative care approach. As a secondary preventative care measure, having screenings available to the community is important in catching any ailment before it progress into its next stage. With the whole month of October dedicated to breast cancer awareness, the establishment of this screening center is an essential part of the community because cancer is a disease that needs to be caught in its early stages. Since breast cancer is more predominate in females, and with your group been all females, it stresses the importance of how an establishment such as this can save the life of many females that do have access to screening centers such as this. This is definitely Public Health!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that there was a breast diagnostics center in Tampa, let alone the fact that it is so close to campus! This location is truly a great example of public health because of the center's means of providing preventive care to those who need it. Prevention is, after all, the basis, of public health. So It's definitely comforting to know that centers like this exist to aid in our society's ongoing battle not only against breast cancer, but cancer in general.
ReplyDeleteGetting checked for any breast abnormalities is so important for the woman's health. I have known too many people associated with breast cancer and some are lucky enough to have gotten checked soon enough while others were not. There is a high prevalence of breast cancer in the United States and with woman checking there may be a chance that we could lower the numbers or if anything help minimize damage.
